“Everything Should Be Made as Simple as Possible, But Not Simpler” is a quote that is often attributed to Albert Einstein. This quote gives me a framework for how I want to view Bayesian Statistics. I aim to explain Bayes’ Theorem in a way most mental health practitioners will understand. I will also make my best argument for using Bayesian Statistics while addressing the limitations of the statistical formula. I want to make my thesis claim here. Bayes’ Theorem offers us a quantifiable formula for diagnosis. Using both cognitive assessments and psychometric scales can help us make better, more accurate diagnoses. If this is not for you, you should not feel compelled to use it.
